Proud sponsor of Arable Farmer of the Year

Established in 1938, Ribena was founded as a way of preserving and delivering the goodness of British blackcurrant juice to families. Noticing that blackcurrants were naturally rich in Vitamin C, our founder Doctor Vernon Charley gave out the juice for free to children and expectant mothers during World War II, when other sources of Vitamin C were scarce.

Our roots run deep, with 6 generations of British farmers still growing blackcurrants for Ribena today across 33 farms. Our blackcurrant juice drinks are still to this day proudly made with 100% British blackcurrants, and all of our delicious juice drinks are blended and bottled in Dr Charley’s hometown in the Forest of Dean.

Ribena is a proud participating member of the Blackcurrant Foundation and supports blackcurrant growers in protecting and enhancing biodiversity on their farms. We take sustainability seriously, with our 6 point sustainability plan adopted on every farm, using 100% recycled plastic for our bottles since 2007 and investing millions in collaboration with the James Hutton Institute to develop climate-resistant blackcurrant varieties, working in harmony with nature.
